Relations between employees and employers

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

There is a factory, Allied Nippon Limited, where the manager of the factory was killed by the workers of the factory. The labors were agitating for their some demands. Somehow the agitation had been converted in to bloody war. Under the war the manager of the company was killed and twenty seven persons were booked with their names in the case. Eight persons were arrested by the police and the FIR had been filed against three hundred fifty people. The company has been closed till Monday.

Senior police officer stated that the arguments between administration of the factory and the workers were going on the issue of their demands. On Saturday it had been converted in to violence which caused twelve persons injured. The company manager, Yogender Chaudhary was also among the injured who died in the hospital next day. The city magistrate ordered to close down the factory till Monday and deployed armed police there to maintain the peace.

Such types of incidences are increasing day by day which show that the people’s animal instinct is being dominated in the present that provokes man to indulge in arguments. Before freedom of India or even many years after the independence the workers in the factories were harassed brutally; so against this cruelty many labor unions came in existence and many laws were framed in favor of labors regarding their salaries, health and general welfare of them. These steps protected the labors from every hassles and the life of them came on some comfortable track.

As the time advanced the scenario again has started changing but in other way round. These labor unions have been stronger with a pace. Now they try to blackmail the factory administration and pressurize them for their undue demands. Generally these demands are not for the benefits of the labors but just for the office bearers of the unions. If their demands are not fulfilled they threaten the authority that they will close down the factory in the name of strike.

One more interesting thing is these undue benefits are passed only to the union leaders not to the workers. Babu is a petty contractor who does petty work related to building construction line. He arranges the labor himself for his work. One day he entangled in arguments with a labor, Shyam as Shyam did some mistakes in his work under carelessness. So Babu told him not to come at work next day if he was not ready to accept his fault.

Shyam felt insulted and went home. He narrated his story to his friend what happened that day. His friend advised him to see the labor union. His friend told him that there are so many unions office in our area and he knew one of them. Both went to a union office where they detailed them the whole incidence. The man in the office told them that he would teach your contractor a lesson but before that they had to become their member. They paid him one thousand rupees as membership and filled the form for the same. After that he registered their complaint. The leader summoned the contractor. Getting summon Babu felt uneasiness. He was anxious what he should do against this summon. After a long search he came to know that one of his friends, Jain could help him to solve the problem.

Babu and Jain went the union office to know the reason why they were called. Having known the problem they asked the leader what to do now. The leader himself suggested them to pay five thousand rupees for compromise. The matter was settled in three thousand. Babu took  a sigh of relief that he had solved the unwanted trouble.

Next day the leader called both the parties and got signed on the compromise paper and gave Shyam five hundred rupees.  The time has come to review the relations of employee and employers and to form the new laws according the new requirement.

‘I will tell you after some time,’ the man answered and went home.

One day the man met the doctor in a party. The doctor asked him about his health so he replied that he is all right now. Actually I narrated a carpenter my problem which he solved easily by cutting the legs of my bed and charged just only ten rupees and since then I am perfectly well.

Ratan Tata

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

Nowadays, every day something that is related to the Govt. and scam appears. Most of the allegations are related with the misuse of powers and corruption. Ratan Tata, a noted industrialist has also added one sensational statement in it. He said in a function that he wanted to start a new domestic airline in collaboration with Singapore airlines some years ago. It was the time when C M Ibrahim was the civil aviation minister and HD Devegoda, Gujral and Atal Bihari were the then Prime Ministers one after another.

He said that he had sent the proposal to start a domestic airline to the concerned ministry but the minister had turned down his proposal. He also alleged that the then minister had demanded the bribe which he refused to fulfill. He also said that he was going somewhere in a flight and a man sitting by his side told him to pay fifteen crores rupees as a bribe and his proposal would be sanctioned.

The then civil aviation minister threatened him to disclose the name who had demanded to grease the palm. Otherwise he would commit suicide. Tata group of companies have some reputation in the market but there are so many people who were harassed by this group of companies. There is no intention to say that Ratan’s statement is false but a question definitely arises in the mind why he revealed this secret after such a long time. Number one, did he reveal the secret under some well calculated plan or say it casually? Number two, Does Tata group want to get some popularity without paying money on advertisement? Number three, Does Ratan want to threaten someone by saying like this? Number four, does he want to enter in the politics with such a big bang? In this many more questions can be framed and come in the mind of people. If all of the questions are added there will be a long list come out. In this write-up there is no intention to malign the image of Ratan but whatever came up in thoughts have been penned down.

A balloon of millions dollar

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

Common Wealth Games have been completed with peace and India had got many medals too. To make opening and closing ceremony attractive CWG bought a high-tech balloon in many crores of rupees. Now it has been packed in a box and will be there for another many months as per news paper reports. Such decision has been taken due to the enquiry that is being made to find out the culprits who did corruption with the CWG funds. As per the report a meeting was to be conducted at this issue but was postponed later on. It is also being said the balloon may be dysfunctional in the box due to moisture there. A special type of technique has been used in the balloon.

Getting any order from enquiry officers and high command CWG may take any decision in this matter. Vice-president of CWG committee told that the decision regarding the aerostat will be taken by sports department. Presently everybody is trying not to take the responsibility of the balloon.

A question arises if the balloon is handed over to any committee how it will be used. It is doubtful that it can be floated in open air for the public because it can be damaged by any miscreant or the environment. It can’t be used for any commercial purposes as the vision doesn’t go far behind the existing situations. It can be used in a laboratory or institution for learning purpose. One more thing can be done that it can be sold out through auction if any legal or emotional boundation is not present in the way. Otherwise such a celebrity balloon might take its last breath in the box.

Homeopathy and steroids

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under health

There are so many systems of medicine available in the society. Some of them are recognized and protected by the Govt. Rest of them are patronized by the people as they are benefitted by them. Nowadays some traditional methods of treatment have lost their utility as the time advanced. There are four systems of treatment recognized, assisted and regulated by the Govt. Allopathy and Homeopathy are more popular nowadays among patients. Both have their own quality and benefits. People also know about them very well. Some people like allopathy and do not even try any other system of medicine when they get ill. In the same way a larger group of people love Homeopathy with passion. The matter doesn’t end here as far as Homeopathy is concerned.

It is difficult to understand why some people do blasphemy for Homeopathy. They vomit so much venom against Homeopathy that can’t be imagined. But it is true that some such people do it innocently as they were fed but some of them defame Homeopathy deliberately and out of frustration. Even some medical professionals also disparage Homeopathy out of their disappointment. Some doctors who don’t have good practice think the cause of their bad luck is Homeopathy. If Homeopathy were banned their fate might have been changed. Some practitioners who have good clienteles think they are the only intelligent doctors and out of their pride they talk irrelevantly about Homeopathy. A very few homeopaths also talk badly for Allopathy.  It is a sin if any body talks wrongly for any system of medicine.

It is evident that some Allopathic drug manufacturers also try to damage the sanctity of Homeopathy. There are so many wrong thoughts that have been marketed against Homeopathy. Some such thoughts which are prevalent in the society.

Sudhir was suffering from severe allergic dermatitis even his face did not escape from the evil. He tried many Allopathic drugs under the supervision of one or the other dermatologists but in vain. One of his friends Pankaj suggested him to take Homeopathy for the ailment. He told him that he had also suffered from the same and got relief only through Homeopathy. Sudhir went to the same doctor and found Pankaj’s statement true when he got benefit under Homeopathy. Sudhir took his wife and daughter for Homeopathic treatment and they were also benefited. Sudhir recommended some of his friends the Homeopathic treatment and most of them were satisfied with the help.

One day Sudhir met his Homeopathic doctor and requested him to allow asking a question. The doctor responded him well. Sudhir said to him, ‘Does Homeopath use steroid?’ The doctor asked him why he wanted to put him this question. Sudhir said that somebody had told him. The doctor replied, ‘OK! That is the reason why you are enquiring about it. I explain it to you as its answer in yes or no can’t satisfy your curiosity and doubts. The first thing is this that there is no steroidal preparation present in Homeopathy and all the drugs are manufactured according to Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of India. The Govt. drug department is very strict and particular about the manufacturing of Homeopathic drugs. So there is no homeopathic drug available in the market which contains steroids. How a doctor can use the steroidal drug when it is not available in the market. I tell you one more things that no Homeopath uses allopathic steroid though rarest rare exception may be there. One more interesting thing, steroids have no role in the treatment of many diseases like Depression, kidney stones etc. In most of the cases the patient seeks Homeopathic help after taking Allopathy where he had already taken strong steroids with no relief at all. A question arises how the same patient gets relief with steroids if these are given by Homeopath.  It means it is the rumor that is created by some mischievous and evil persons.’ After hearing the logical reply Sudhir was satisfied. Sudhir himself worked on a high post and is very influential. He collected the information from health ministry and found the doctor’s version correct. Now he has become a dedicated follower of Homeopathy.

There are some more such type of evils regarding Homeopathy being rumored by some miscreants or depressed people that will be discussed later on. To misguide patients in this way is like a blasphemy.

New generation’s behavior!!!

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

It is certainly true that a mother can look after many children but many children might not take care of one mother when she is old and needs their help. Every day such types of stories are heard. Nowadays children are educated and emotional too even they advise others to help the parents, but they forget to behave properly with their own parents. They think they are well behaved because their parents (falsely) praise them in front of others. So the children think they are really obedient. If they realized the situation minutely they would come to know the truth.

Today news appeared in a n’paper that a son had disconnected the electricity of his mother’s room as she hadn’t paid him the electric bill. The son is neither immature by age nor an illiterate but a retired additional director of one of the departments of central government. He didn’t even once think that he was going to do such an unpardonable offence and God wouldn’t forgive him. He, Avinash- name changed, lives in a posh colony and well off economically. His mother aged 84, Pushpa – name changed, also lives with him in one room in the same house. His mother is widow.

He alleged that his mother hadn’t paid the electricity bill of her room; therefore he had disconnected the electricity of her room. Pushpa went to family counseling center to complain of her son. She said that she gets her livelihood from her husband’s pension. My son takes me rupees 1500 as a rent of the room. Getting ill I couldn’t pay him the room rent so that he disconnected the electricity of my room and insisted on me to go to my other son. I don’t want to go there as they live in upper floors and I can’t climb up being aged.  She also said that he wanted to rent my room after its evacuation; this is the reason he harass me.

The officers of the center advised the son that he had better not to tease his mother. The son now promised that he would not charge the money from his mother and also restore her room’s electricity.

Such types of incidence are increasing day by day and this is not in favor of the society. The day is not far when most of the aged will be in trouble.

Change in education system

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

The Govt. has planned to change the style of the education. Previously the exams were conducted annually and examination evaluation was based on marks. Now the Govt. wants to implement the semester system and gradation method to tell the performance of the student in the colleges.

Even in the school level too marking of exams has been changed and gradation method adopted. But practically, schools are using dual method; they write marks in evaluated answer sheets but write down grades in the report card of the student. Then what is the fun to change the method except creating confusion in the mind of a student and his parents. Even teachers who award grades themselves don’t understand the real meaning of grades.

Teachers union in the University of Delhi is also protesting against this semester system. They have gone on strike. In its repercussion the university has stopped their salary; so the atmosphere of the university has been tense nowadays.

The teachers are agitated on not releasing the salary. The war is continuing regarding salary in most of the colleges. The full salary has been released only in about a dozen colleges only. There was a strong uproar in Maharaja Agarsain College on Wednesday. The college main gate had been closed even the students had to wait for sometime out of the college.  The principal had to call the police; the police arrested some teachers and took them to New Ashok Nagar police station. A teacher’s leader reached the Ambedkar College and started demanding the principal to release the salary. Deen Dayal College was also in tension that day.

Everyday some new points are being added in the arguments. The war for salary along with semester system controversy is increasing day by day. Actually the university has also adopted a strong attitude towards the issue. It has said clearly that the teachers would have to teach under semester system; those who didn’t accept this order would not get the salary. On the other side DUTA is also adamant and said that the way it was implemented was illegal and would not be accepted.

The university directed the principals of the colleges that those teachers who don’t give undertaking in favor of teaching through semester system, their salary will not be released. The university said every teacher will have to teach approved semester wise syllabus. Those who don’t follow the order, not only their salary are stopped but also the salary which they have drawn after 21st July will be taken back.

It is the education which really makes the back bone of any country. It is a sensitive issue. If the university wants to change its old education system it had better discuss the matter openly with the students, teachers, academicians and even with the scholars among the public so that the fruitful, effective and practical conclusion will have been surfaced out.

What is more dangerous? Drugs or Alcohol!!!

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

A report appeared on the front page of one of the dailies that alcohol is more dangerous for health than drugs like heroin, cocaine etc. A scientist of Britain has suggested to take less alcohol because it is more harm full to body and argued that the drugs named heroin, cocaine and ganja etc render less harm to men than alcoholic drinks. He said it is on the basis of his research. Professor David Nut, chairman Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs in Britain measured all the intoxicated substances on the scale of a hundred. The meaning of the hundred on the scale is most dangerous and zero means not dangerous to health. So alcohol got seventy three points with first rank on the scale while heroine fifty five and ganja fifty four and stood second and third on its ranking. Cocaine twenty seven, tobacco twenty six and LSD which is popular among youth got only seven points on the scale; that way these are far behind than alcohol in harming the health. The report has been published in the science journal, Lancet. The purpose of this report is to make the Govt. aware on this issue.

It is also interesting that the use of alcohol and tobacco is legal in most of the countries. Professor Nut emphasized that these two things which are more harmful are enjoying legal status. World Health Organization estimated that about twenty five lakhs people, who use alcohol or tobacco, die of liver disease, heart diseases, cancer, road accidents and suicide. This is 3.8 percent of the total deaths happened in the world. In spite these are the third biggest factor of untimely deaths and occurrences of handicaps.

Nut was the first chairman of the council of misuse of drugs in Britain as he criticized the Govt. openly that the Govt. is indifferent to scientific advice; he was removed from his post.

Any thing which causes harm to the body whether more or less and come under the category of drugs should not be allowed to use. The Govt., user of the alcohol and tobacco, and even the public know very well that these are harmful to health. But the addiction is so strong that the user of them couldn’t afford to understand their side effects. In place of this they try to convince others that use of these things is a status symbol. Those who don’t use them are not fit for high society. They say if you want to move in high society you have to use them. The Govt. also lives in doldrums; it says these are not good for health and for that it spends millions rupees on advertisement, and see another side- the Govt. itself issues the manufacturing licenses for manufacture of liquor and tobacco products, as well as permit them to sell their products in the country.

India – Indian and English

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

It is great shocking news that most of the Govt. officers are inefficient in English. Now the Govt. is going to start a training program for such officers to make them efficient in English. A question arises in everybody’s mind how these officers have cleared their exams which were taken by the concerned department or any other competitive authority. It shows that either the examination pattern is faulty which is unable to scrutinize the candidates properly or some malpractice is used during the exams.

There is one more interesting aspect has come up that the Govt. has made a three hour training program which will have trained them in English so that they could do their office work proficiently in English. It seems to be ridiculous that a man can be expert in any language only in three hours. The scheme might hopefully prove flop.

The circular that was released for teaching English had not shown the category of officers who would attend this training session. It is decided that the program will be held on 8th Nov. but it is not clear what type of training will be given and what type of the technique will be used. It is accepted at different levels in the Delhi Govt. that sometime errors in the draft are so numerous and it is difficult to correct them; instead of correcting them it has to be written again. A senior officer in the Govt. said that in most of the files the errors are in grammar. These officers said if the Govt. is really serious on this issue it must make a concrete training program. Just only three hour training program is not sufficient to root out the problem.

It is evident that our national language is Hindi then why the Govt. doesn’t make it mandatory to do work in Hindi in the Govt. offices. Departments which deals with other countries may do work in English. It is also true that no nation can rise if it uses the foreign language in its country.
