Honor Killing

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

Nowadays honor killing has become the part of every news paper. Generally the local news of the city  appears on the third page of the news paper. Almost every day, news about honor killing is published in dailies. Some time it becomes the part of the front page. The question arises what is the meaning of ‘honor killing’. When a member of a family is killed by other (generally males) members of the family; considering that the victim has dishonored the family. In this killing, females of the family also consent to the brutal act. There are many reasons of honor killing but love marriage is the commonest one.

People say they live in advanced society and have modern thoughts. When some such thing happens, like love marriage, in their own family they forget all modern thoughts at that time. They lose their temper and go in to the state of madness. Under madness they forget the consequences of murder as ‘honor killing’ also comes in the category of murder. Indian penal code does not permit them for it. The culprit of ‘honor killing’ ruined the whole family and is the real person who has dishonored the family.

A girl, lived in Pitam Pura Delhi, wanted to marry a boy of other cast as they fell in love with each other. When it was heard by the father of the girl he lost his control over his mind and called the boy in a market place where he shot at him. Unfortunately the girl came between them and got the shot of the bullet. She died on the spot. The police arrested the culprit and sent him to jail. See the condition of the family in the present situation. A brother and a mother of the girl were left in the family. Their earning source is finished and the savings are spending in legal formalities of the case. No relative, neighbor and friend is ready to talk to them. Practically they are socially boycotted. Where have their honor gone? If he had not killed her he would not have gone to jail. If the marriage ceremony had been solemnized peacefully no body would have boycotted them. Now the future of the family is dark forever.

There are about five thousand cases of ‘honor killing’ happening every year in the world. It happens in every country but I think India leads in it. This figure is for the reported cases. The cases which are not reported may be higher than the reported ones.

Magneseium Carbonica – for diarrhoea, toothache etc.

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under health

Magnesium Carbonica is used as a medicine both in Allopathy and Homeopathy. In allopathy it is used for sour stomach and for constipation.  It is difficult to say how much they, allopaths, use it nowadays. It is used in Homeopathy for stomach trouble, diarrhea and pain in abdomen as well as in some other ailments where its symptoms correspond with the symptoms of the patient.

In Homeopathy it has a particular type of stool in diarrhea. The stool is green in color and like a scum in a frogs’ pond. If you have ever seen scum in a pond where frogs live you can easily imagine the type of stool in Magnesium Carbonica. Homeopaths generally call it with its nick name that is ‘Mag Carb’. It is convenient to write it Mag-carb. It has diarrhea with pain in stomach. The patient doubles up from pain as in Colocynth, a homeopathic medicine. Its stool has a sour odor as found in Calc-Carb and in Rheum, other two names of homeopathic medicines. Such symptoms if any diarrhea patient contains, a dose of Mag-Carb is sufficient to relieve him. The pain is relieved after stool as found in Nux-Vom, a homeopathic medicine.

It is good in relieving toothache particularly during pregnancy. Pain in decayed tooth is especially marked in it. Gelsemium, a name of homeopathic medicine, is not marked for pain as its action is on motor activity so it is good for paralysis, trembling etc. but if the symptoms of the patient corresponds to the drug picture of Gelsemium it can relieve the pain of the patient too. In the same way it can cure some other diseases also where the symptoms of the drug agree to the patient’s symptoms. It is a brief picture of Mag-Carb. I am not writing complete drug picture of it as is not my aim but I want to mention a case of diarrhea which I treated with it.

Ms. A K, a girl aged 10 was suffering from diarrhea with pain in stomach as she had have dinner in a restaurant. The dinner as may be infected caused her the mentioned problem. I gave her a medicine and it controlled her diarrhea but tenesmus remained there. Next day, I again reviewed the case and found that the given medicine was partially similar. It was the case of Mag-Carb so it was given and a day after the girl was perfectly all right.

Kites – a flop movie

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

Sam asked me whether I was interested to watch a new movie, named KITE. I gave him my acceptance by nodding my head. I have heard about this movie that it has Ritik Roshan as a hero. It was expected that it would do a great business but it was utterly failure to show its credit in the public. For its unsuccess, there were number of causes which can be counted as it was not released at the right time.

Ritik is in a lead role in this movie. He is a master of many arts. He does some odd jobs for his survival. He does paper marriage for the sake of money. The girl who wants to migrate in USA marries him in the court. Therefore the girl gets a legal status to live there. He, as every body has a desire to be rich also wants to become a multimillionaire. He comes in contact with a girl who falls in his love but he refuses to accept it. As soon as he knows that she is rich he starts loving her. She is the daughter of a casino owner. They also accept him as her boy friend. In her lovers house he saw a girl who was her wife and now is a fiancée of his lover’s brother.

He and his wife ran away from there and story keeps on going ahead with the old styled filmy tricks. At last, Hero and heroine died. In this way the end of the movie was tragic.

When I saw the movie I felt bored. The movie was picturized in Las Vegas that is why it was high budget movie. The acting in the movie was like English movies. Indian audience like Indian styled Hindi movie. Those who want to see English styled movie will watch English movie. That is also a reason of this movie being flopped. Indians don’t like tragic end in the movie. These are some causes of this flop show although the movie was good in my opinion but not in Indian context.

The Teenage is most Vulnerable

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

A child whose age is between thirteen and nineteen is called teenage child or teenager. This is the age when a child passes through new experiences along with his logical mind. His mind is sensitive to emotions. If some body tries to say something to him, he analyses it. If he finds it correct as per his own opinion he accepts it other wise rejects it. When elders oblige him to accept their opinion he bewilders in it and tries to revolt. He feels himself matured although people still consider him child. This is the reason he is kept in the new category called teenage. They are neither in the group of child nor in the class of young.

Some teenagers become irritated and show their retaliation by teasing their siblings. A few of them lose their interest in studies. A little number of them doesn’t react with this situation or the situation doesn’t affect them. A smaller group of teenager falls in to a danger zone where they revolt against their parents, schools or society. Under revolt they run away from home and are trapped in the hands of bad elements.

This is a true story of a girl who ran away from home and was pushed in to flesh trade. The girl Asha (a fictitious name) belonged to Andhra Pradesh and a daughter of a senior Govt. officer. She got annoyed at some point with her parents and decided to leave her home. She first went to church and then tried to find some job. Under this process a lady along with two small children met her. Asha told her problem and sought her help to get a job. The lady took her to Delhi. In Delhi they met another lady, called Madam, at GB Road area which is infamous for flesh trade. The madam locked her in a room. Now her doom days were started. Every day she was forced to live with a new man called customer. She was not allowed to go out or to meet any one. One day she got help from one of her customers and managed to phone her parents.

When she was absent from home her parents lodged a complaint with the police about her disappearance. Getting her news the parents contacted the local police and reached Delhi. The Andhra police approached the Delhi police. With the help of local police, the customer whose phone was used by Asha was searched out and he gave out the address of the place where Asha was locked up. Asha was released from the flesh traders and handed over to her parents.

Any thought whether revolutionary or other which comes in mind must be discussed with elders in whom you have faith. Other wise a mistake can change the path of life to unknown and dark road. It can occur at any age even though the teenage is most vulnerable.

Rangili pretended to be pregnant

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

Rangili pretended to be pregnant. She declared it in the Haveli, a traditional house in semi-urban area. When Amma ji got this news she felt happy. She announced to celebrate the event. On the other side, Rangili’s husband Avtar argued with her and asked why she was acting to be pregnant. She said it was a question of her survival in the Haveli and even threatened her husband; if he wanted to live there peacefully he should obey her order. Actually Chanda, the first wife of Avtar got pregnant. Hearing this news Rangili got an idea and did the trick. She threatened Chanda and made her agree not to disclose about her pregnancy. Chanda accepted her offer and also insisted Avtar on keeping it secret. Avtar found himself helpless.

A dance party was organized in the Havelli. All the women of the Havelli participated in it. Chanda sat burried in sad and deep thoughts in her room. She was called to attend the dance program. When she was dancing and singing in the circle of ladies she got giddiness and fell on the ground. Seeing her lying on the ground dancing and singing program stopped in a fraction of a second. An old lady, working as a nurse, examined Chanda and declared that she was also pregnant. Hearing this news Amma ji got stunned. She enquired about the whole game being played in the Havelli.

Avtar faced Amma ji boldly and disclosed that Chand was really pregnant and Rangilli was lying in this matter. He had no intimate relations with Rangili. Hearing it Rangili said he is misguiding Amma ji. Avtar said, ‘Amma ji, you send both to hospital for examination so that reality will come out automatically.’ Amma ji agreed to his proposal but also got angery and said how he dared making relations with Chanda when he was asked not to live with her. Amma ji ordered him to slap himself on his face. He obeyed the order of her and did as was told. Hearing the whole drama every woman in the Havelli got stunned.

Chanda was terrified and said to Avtar either to take stand on this issue or kill her. She was very sad and kept on weeping. Avtar tried to console her but in vain.

Siya explained the incidence to Raghav and showed her fear that what ever was being done in the Havelli was not good so he should look into this matter. Raghav said that in his opinion, there was no harm if both the ladies were sent to hospital for clarification.

Amma ji also looked worried that every body was doing according to one’s wish. So she had to take some strong steps to control the members of the family.

A morning before going to office

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

I got up hearing the alarm of the table clock at 5-15 in the morning. Stopping the alarm I again fell asleep. After that my eyes opened at 6 o, clock about the time of the sun rise. Every day, I want to go to a park for morn-walk and yoga but very reluctant in this job. I passed two hours just sitting idle in the drawing room. At 8 am, I went in to the bathroom and had bath with tap water. In the mean while a patient called me up as he wanted to get treatment under my supervision. I told him to wait in the visitor room. My office at my residence is in the basement of the house. After getting ready I went down stairs and provided him the best possible treatment. He came here to get treatment of his daughter and wife. His daughter was already under my treatment but his wife came here to get my advice for her treatment. I checked her all the pathological reports and diagnosed her disease before starting her treatment. His daughter was also feeling better than before but for her, I told him to collect her medicine from my main office. He nodded his head for his acceptance.

I organize a regular class of medicine in my office at the same place. The class duration is about an hour. I with my some colleague attend the class regularly. This class has been continuing for more than six years. The moment we finished our class, one of my old patients entered in to my office. This old patient is old by age too. He is suffering from hot flushes on the body. This is a strange type of disease like females have menopause syndrome. A few male patients at the end of their active sex life may suffer from such ailment. Giving him treatment we again continued our class. In the end we took a cup of tea with some biscuits and Namkeen.

A memorable day

Published by Dr. Anil K Agarwal under General

I went along with Mira and Naresh to aunt’s house to invite her to the party that has to be held four days before the marriage of Shivark. When I reached there she was at home as I phoned her that I would be coming to invite her and she had consented to me on it. She welcomed us warmly and offered the seats in her drawing room to sit, though a chairman of a renowned university was already sitting there. He also greeted us and during introduction I told him that my son had done his master degree from his university. Then he enquired about my son what he was doing now. I told him about his job then he said I should tell my son to meet him along with his resume if possible. If Sunny can’t come to see him personally Sunny can E-mail his resume to him. So that he may be able to help him searching a good job in the best company. After that he went out of the house. We sat on the sofa and gave aunt the invitation card. She accepted it and assured me to visit there. We took tea with snacks and did some chit-chat, after that we came back home.

One day before the occasion aunt rang me up and enquired about the function. I told her the date and insisted on coming at the party again. On the day I contacted aunt on telephone and asked when she was coming at my home. She said some guests were coming at lunch so she would let me know in the afternoon. Again I talked about her arrival; she said she would reach my home at about 7 in the evening. I said when she reached at Britannia crossing she phoned me so that I would pick her up from there. As soon as she reached there her driver informed me about her arrival on my mobile phone. I with my son immediately reached there and guided the driver about the way to my home. Aunt felt tired as there was a lot of traffic on the road. Both of my sons with Mira wished and welcome her. We had a cup of tea with some snacks. We did a lot of talk with her. Both my lovely sons went to the party about half an hour earlier than us. When we were going to the club where the function was to be held, on the way to it I asked Vaibhav the route of the club.

The moment we entered into the club every body welcomed aunt. She was welcomed wearing a garland prepared from cardamoms. Seeing her there everybody felt greeted. Some rituals were being performed there. Meeting with people there we sat on a sofa in the front row. Aunt also enjoyed seeing the ceremonies. We took some snacks and corn soup which was especially prepared without spices as aunt doesn’t like spices. Aunt enquired me about a man attending the party but I showed my ignorance about the guy. When the man saw aunt, he himself came near her and wished touching her feet. At that time I asked him about his name. He gave us his introduction. After about forty minutes aunt took dinner that was also without spices. In the mean while children started their dance and music program that every one enjoyed. An American guest with his daughter was also attending the function. He also danced beautifully on a Hindi song though he knew a very little Hindi. Children also forced me to dance on the stage and I had to fulfill their desire though I didn’t know the ABC of dance.

At about 9.30, aunt went back home. I stayed there until the program finished. Although I had taken the dinner with aunt, I had to have it again. I went back home late at night so I got up late next morning. In this way it was a memorable day.
